A SHORT BIO
| Hi, my name is Jason Wotherspoon, and I have a keen interest in Martial Arts. I have been training in Iwama Aikido since 1989 under Saburo Takayasu Sensei in Sydney, and now run a dojo in Ipswich and Brisbane, QLD. Australia. I began karate training around 1984 in Shotokan, under the late Frank Nowak Sensei, also briefly trained in Escrima, and Togakure Ryu Ninjutsu. I am also studying the Cheng Man Ching style Yang Tai Ji of Master Huang Sheng-shyan lineage. I have been throwing blades for more than 10 years, and my interest in the art continues to grow. I was first shown how to throw shuriken in 1991, by a Japanese colleague I worked with at my Sensei's company. He was only a young guy, but he seemed quite knowledgable on the subject, and I later understood what he showed me was techniques of the Shirai Ryu. I was also shown the basics of Negishi Ryu by several of my Aikido seniors, who learned shuriken from our late headmaster, Morihiro Saito Sensei in Iwama, Japan, but most of my learning has been through research, study and practice. Recently, I am proud to say, I have been very kindly accepted by Yasuyuki Otsuka Sensei as an honorary student in Meifu Shinkage Ryu, and am endeavouring to learn the basic kata of this school. suggestion, and information is welcome. |
