Togakushi Ninja Archives - Nagano Prefecture.

This museum is in the Togakushi region, which is another name for Togakure, a name made famous by the particular style of Ninjutsu taught by Masaaki Hatsumi Sensei, 34th headmaster of the system. Hatsumi Sensei donated many pieces of his extensive collection to this museum, on display today. The photos on this page were kindly supplied by Danny Fletcher, a supporter of this website.

These appear to be relatively recent, a rough and simple adaptation of
the tangs of katana, etc. (Note the peg hole used for attaching the handle (tsuka)
to the blade, in the top example.)

Fig. 9 (Detail from fig. 3 above)
Fujita Seiko has these blades listed as being from Iga Ryu. They appear to be
made from a sword, which is filed on both sides, then split in the middle and splayed open.
How these blades were used as a throwing weapon I fail to see, perhaps they served some other purpose.
